ONLINE MUSIC THERAPY
Sarah has over a decade of experience working with clients of all ages and abilities from birth, to adulthood, to end stage life. Delivering sessions online is a new service option that was launched during the current pandemic. We are thrilled to announce this will continue to be offered well beyond COVID-19 due to the overwhelmingly positive response we've had from new and existing clients!
We foresee this will continue to enable rural and remote families to access Music Therapy where they otherwise wouldn't be able to. Additionally, we are excited to now be able to see clients residing outside our service area, including other cities, who have been disappointed to not access our service in the past.
Telehealth may also be appropriate for the following reasons:
Evidence supporting the delivery of music therapy online is growing with some researchers suggesting it may be just as effective as face-to-face sessions. This has certainly been our experience- even more effective in some cases. We are successfully running online sessions with clients aged 2 to 94! They reside in and around Australia and even overseas as far as Wuhan, China. These clients have a range of diagnoses and have impressed us with their response and engagement via Telehealth.
The first video shown is clever little Luka's first session. He has a vision impairment (CVI) and developmental delay, but impressed us all with his transition from face-to-face to online music therapy.
The second video is of Helen who is in her mid-90s and has severe dementia. She became isolated during the pandemic so her caring family arranged an iPad so she could continue her music therapy sessions online.
Telehealth is not a suitable option for everyone though. To discuss whether it's right for you or to find out more, please contact us.
